Gone...

I've decided to close this livejournal... I never update it anymore and I've pretty much moved on from it. I am still reading my friends' posts so please don't de-friend me so I can keep up with all of you! However, I do have a new blog, in case anyone is interested. I'm not sure any of you will be as it's not really about what I used to write here in my LJ account, but I do update with my life stuff now and then. If you want to keep up with me, just bookmark my new blog... I update it pretty frequently:

Photo.Knit.Dog

I feel a little sad closing this LJ as it really is like closing a part of my life, but it's been dead for so long, it's hard for me to miss it so much. I'll make sure to check back here on your LJ accounts so I can keep up, I promise! I'm closing this LJ but definitely not the friendships I made here!

Love,
Lina (B-chan)

153 - I RULE THE WORLD!!!!

Just a meme - a real post to follow later today. ;)

Taken from mirai_noah. And you all know I have no life, so it all makes sense. Also, I am very ashamed by some of these movies I've seen. Joe Dirt anyone? Sheesh I am a loser.

SUPPOSEDLY if you've seen over 85 movies, you have no life. Mark the ones you've seen. There are 239 movies on this list. COPY and paste this into your own livejournal entry and pass it on down the line. Then make sure to come back here and comment and tell me what your numbers are! Then, put x's next to the movies you've seen, add them up, change the header adding your number, and click post at the bottom. Have fun!

Start

(x) Rocky Horror Picture Show
(x) Grease
(x) Pirates of the Caribbean
(x) Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Dead Man's Chest
( ) Boondock Saints
(x) Fight Club
( ) Starsky and Hutch
(x) Neverending Story
( ) Blazing Saddles
( ) Airplane
Total: 6

(x) The Princess Bride
(x) AnchorMan
(x) Napoleon Dynamite
(x) Labyrinth
(x) Saw
( ) Saw II
(x) White Noise
(x) White Oleander
( ) Anger Management
(x)50 First Dates
(x) The Princess Diaries
(x) The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement
Total so far: 16

(x) Scream
(x) Scream 2
(x) Scream 3
( ) Scary Movie
( ) Scary Movie 2
( ) Scary Movie 3
( ) Scary Movie 4
(x) American Pie
(x) American Pie 2
(x) American Wedding
( ) American Pie Band Camp
Total so far: 22

(x) Harry Potter 1
(x) Harry Potter 2
(x) Harry Potter 3
(x) Harry Potter 4
(x) Resident Evil 1
(x) Resident Evil 2
(x) The Wedding Singer
( ) Little Black Book
(x) The Village
( ) Lilo &
I feel like shit...

Mostly because I've been feeling sick all day. Hopefully this will go away tomorrow, but since it will be VERY VERY cold, I'm not sure if that will actually happen since I need to walk around outside to get to class early in the morning. blah.

However, Heroes was awesome today even if I feel like shooting myself over the fact that there will be no new episodes until April 23rd! WTF?

I felt SO sorry for him at the end of that episode. That bitch who can imitate people (did anybody catch her name? I don't think I ever did) really pissed me off every time she was on screen. I think I found a brand new character to hate.

Simone is actually dead! That made me happy and disappointed at the same time. And emo!Isaac is coming back with his heroin addiction, and that does not make me happy at all... I wish he would just paint his future and stop feeling so sorry for himself. Though, I guess that's just his character, so what can you do?

I'm excited about Claire finally finding out that Peter is her uncle and that Nathan is her father, though I really want to know how Peter's mother fits into all of this. Who is she really?

Also, I can't wait until Peter kicks some Sylar ass (this is something I'm sure is going to happen). He really really needs some ass kicking to bring his ego down a notch or two.

Oh and I just thought of this... I loved how Ando showed up to save Hiro right at the nick of time! It just made me smile.

Regardless, the episode was great all around, though I can't wait to see what happens next.

I haven't seen The Black Donnellys yet, but I'll watch it sometime tomorrow. I am getting up to date with Lost, though, and am only one episode behind now. So far so good, though I guess we'll see where things go with the whole Jack/Juliet thing.

Anyway, I hope everyone on my f-list is doing well! I've been busy the last week or so and probably will be for a while longer. Hopefully things will settle down sooner rather than later.

A well-deserved break

So my paper was turned in earlier today. YAY for that! Now I have two weeks of waiting before I know if I have to rewrite it or just go straight to the oral... blah. I'll try not to think of that until then.

On other more pleasant news, Heroes tonight was awesome!

Who could not help but feel so sorry for him at the end when the Haitian shot him? He may not be very ethical, but he does love his family.

And although my beloved Hiro didn't show up, we did see his young self! XD I cannot believe that his father knows all about powers but he doesn't believe/know that his son has them. And Claude? I totally think that Simone was the one he was hiding that made him get shot by HRG (all based on the preview for next week and the rooftop where HRG got Claire, of course).

Also, I was very happy when Claude said that they were going to "get a firestarter" when Claire was orphaned, as it backs up my last theory about Claire's mother setting the apartment on fire to escape from HRG.

I absolutely cannot wait till next week! :D

Also, I did get a chance to watch The Black Donnellys and I wasn't too impressed. I will keep watching to see where it goes, but it seemed to me like it tried too hard to be a Goodfellas/The Departed/Godfather mix and somehow fell short by a long shot. I hope it gets better as I really like the idea behind it.

Oh, and the premise of a 20-year-old kid taking over a whole neighborhood seems really hard to choke down for me... I dunno, maybe because I've seen way too many mafia movies and it doesn't seem likely to me. ;)

Regardless, I'll see it for the next couple of weeks until/if I get disillusioned with it, as I did with Studio 60 (one of the only shows I've ever seen where the first episode was far and away the best one).

...

At least Heroes is still awesome!
Heroes

So basically the entire episode I was yelling at the TV about the whole Sylar hooking up with Mohinder thing. I know that a lot of shows and movies like to do the bad guy hooking up with a good guy to use him thing, but it really grates me when they drag it on and no one catches on. Mostly because I really really just want Sylar to die already.

Peter made me so happy with how he could control his powers! And then I was just so sad about Simone being shot, but seriously, who didn't see that one coming? There was no way that Peter was going to end up with her (mostly I think because most heroes need to have a lot of tragedy in their lives).

As for Hiro. I seriously almost cried when he sent Ando home! I hope he doesn't go because, even when he is annoyingly stupid, he's one of my favorite sidekicks and Hiro all alone just makes me feel very sad for some reason. The Stan Lee cameo as the bus driver did make me smile at that time, though. ;)

I cannot wait until next week's episode when they finally start saying something about who in the world Mr. Bennet actually is and why he does what he does. It should be exciting and definitely help answer some pressing questions! I absolutely LOVE this show!

Well, statistically speaking, law enforcement attracts a certain kind of male personality.

Congratulaions, you're Audrey! You're a practical hard-worker with a sassy sense of humor. What? Audrey Hanson? Whatever. So I took it again... and got Mr. Bennet! Shit, I guess I'm doomed to get stupid characters I don't care about. :P Although, at least Mr. Bennet has some kind of motive for acting the way he does... even if I don't agree with most of his decisions. I'm sure part of the reason I got Mr. Bennet is because I'm a scientist. So. Yeah.

Thursday night TV

So last night was okay as far as Grey's was concerned for me.

I feel like the show just really went overboard on grossness (Izzie's guy stuck under the car and drilling holes into him, although cool, was not that exciting in my opinion). George looking for that kid and finding him with Callie was very sweet, though, and one of my favorite scenes from the night! However, the whole Meredith is dead thing just did not appeal to me at all. Maybe I just think it's way too much for her to have been in that freezing water for so long AND for Derek to be able to find her in that water (ummm, really?). I know she'll live (hello, Grey's Anatomy anyone?), but the whole thing was way too unbelievable for me, not to mention that I was getting really annoyed with that blonde kid. I realize that she was in shock, I realize she's just a kid, but I think they did way too many scenes of her staring blankly at people and walking away in slow motion.

Anyway, watching this episode made me realize that the medicine in Grey's is just extra for me. I really watch this show for the interaction between them... I really don't think they do medicine all that well as a main part of the show. As a side line to all their other shit? Hell yeah! Whatever happened to good ol' fashioned Grey's where people are sleeping with each other and being mad at each other and just plain drama? I mean, that's what I watch this show for. If I wanted to look at cool medicine on a TV show, I turn to my beloved House M.D., which shows medicine much better than Grey's, IMHO.

So after watching Grey's it was late but my sister didn't want to go to bed with such a sad episode in mind so we watched Ugly Betty right afterwards. haha!

I feel so sorry for Betty at the end! Her and Henry (aka Clark Kent to my sister and I - seriously with the glasses, I can just imagine him removing them to become a really hot Superman!) really should be together! I know his girlfriend is nice and all, but damn it! Betty totally deserves him more. ;) Then we end up feeling sorry for just about everyone on the show from Daniel to Willhemina. Sheesh, did all the ABC writers get together and decide to make tonight a very very depressing TV night? Also, I have to say that Daniel's comment to Betty "She had braces and big glasses and weird hair" was one of the best of the night! And Justin doing Hairspray on the E train? Totally loved it! :D

I don't think UB is on next week, though, because they didn't show a preview... :( I hope it will come back soon if that's the case. Anyway, I must get back to slaving away at my paper. My life is so grand. *le sigh*

Winter is FINALLY here and hello to new friends!

*waves* Hi new friends sometimescrazy, perfectinpart, and mirai_noah! I hope you will all enjoy my random ramblings and the such. ;)

So we're having that snow-not-snow-snow-not-snow type of weather (what the weather freaks call wintry mix) for the first time the whole winter. Since it's been so warm here lately, it's kind of freaky to see some snow flakes falling (along with rain, but heh, what can you do?).

Other than the cold, it's been a good day since I found out that I did well on my Genetics class! YAY! Now I only have one other class and I will be finally done with it all! XD

Now I'm just waiting for Ugly Betty and Grey's Anatomy to come on tonight. I love Thursdays! :D

ETA: I absolutely LOVED Ugly Betty tonight... I'll post my thoughts on this episode as well as on Grey's sometime tomorrow. Plus, is it just me or did they really make Rebecca Romjin look like a man turned into a woman?

Movies of 2007

So I know I sort of slacked on the Movies of 2006 thing... I did watch a bunch of movies, though, and I did put them all in the entry, but I definitely didn't review all of them. So one of my New Year resolutions (other than taking the stairs up to my work and NOT taking the elevator whenever possible) will be to actually post reviews of all movies seen in 2007. Let us all hope this will work out for me this time around! :D The movies of 2006 post is below this one, and though I didn't see as many movies as I would wish, I blame it all on grad school (as per usual ;D).

How completely adorable was Hugh Laurie (LOVE LOVE LOVE) when accepting his award? I'm SO happy for House since he totally totally deserved it... and the show deserves the recognition too, of course. :D

Ugly Betty just won best TV COMEDY!!!!!!! WOOHOO! XD I think I saw America Ferrera crying... she's so sweet.

Veronica Mars S3E02

This episode was definitely much better than the first, in my Spoiler-full .

I was very excited to see the whole prisoner/guards social experiment. In case this is above anyone's head, it references the Stanford prison experiment where men were paid something like $15/day to play prisoners or guards in a mock prison. It ran 6 days out of its 2 weeks before it was stopped due to it getting out of hand and being extremely unethical. I just recently watched the German movie Das Experiment, a movie based on the experiment and addressing the issue of where the experiment would have gone if it had been allowed to go on. If you like dark and very disturbing movies, do watch, it's an amazing movie.

As for the episode itself, Logan streaking was a definite 10 in my book. Wallace is my hero! ;D And Boy Meets World's Rider Strong was great as the jackass guard!

The whole sorority girl thing was a little contrived, though it did keep me interested. I did feel very sorry for Veronica for not only hurting poor Parker but also the whole sorority who, it appears, are innocent of the accused rape and bad rushing.

It seems that Logan and Veronica are back to speaking in barbs, which is great, and Veronica squeezing Dick's face was priceless!

Also, it's sad, but I'm happy that Piz wasn't in the episode at all. I'm horrible at making up my mind about characters right away, but I tend to change my mind if need be, so I'm not completely hopeless. ;)

In short, this episode was much better than the first as I think all the characters are slowly coming back into themselves again (maybe I just mean Logan and Veronica), and I didn't think it was as dumbed down as the first one.

I was really impressed... and it made me decide that he'll never get rid of that signature 80's/early 90's hair, because it's still there. Sad, but true.

Veronica Mars S3E01

So yeah... Veronica Mars... what can I say except a spoiler full ...

I must admit that I was totally confused at first as I tried to recall which one of the Fitzpatricks was in the car with Keith (so I only started rewatching VM about three weeks ago and didn't get though the second season... so what? Yeah, I know, I'm pretty worthless), but when things started to fall into place, my whole reaction to the Kendall murder was basically that 1. I didn't see it coming and 2. I don't really think she's dead as they didn't show her body. Regardless, I'm more than a little worried about my favorite private eye and really hope he'll make it out fine (though I'm sure he will).

As for Veronica, I'm hoping that she will stay with Logan (yay for Logan/Veronica sex scenes!), but I'm not sure whether this will happen the whole time.

I'm not sure about the whole rape/shaved head mystery (are they really going to drag that one out for a whole season?), but I do feel really sorry for Parker. And Dick (though a great character) totally deserved that kick to the groin by that girl. Oh and NO DUNCAN (except for a replacement Duncan who is at least a LITTLE less annoying)! I am SO happy he's not in the opening credits anymore.

Things I didn't like: Where is Weevil? And what about that bitch Jackie (I really don't like her)? And where is Weevil? Again, hello? Weevil? How could they just ignore my favorite character? I was seriously very upset about this turn of events.

The new credits were OKAY in my opinion. Although I loved the look of them, I didn't like how they decided to mess with the song... the whole choppiness of it sort of grated on my nerves. But maybe that's just me.

So I can't wait until next week, though next week I think I'll pause it for 20 minutes or so so I can fast-forward through the commercials (YAY for DVR!). I'm very impatient that way. ;)

I also got a friend of mine to just turn on the TV and leave it on VM (even though she was busy studying for her exam) to help add one more to the ratings. Yes, I cheated... but if it means saving my favorite show, I will be as underhanded as possible.

I've been so incredibly busy the last couple of weeks I don't even know where to start, so I'll just leave out all the details. To make a long story short, I am incredibly bogged down with research and stupid genetics (*kicks*) and I just found out that one of my closest friends is now pregnant... in a completely unplanned way. But she's happy so I'm being happy and supportive. I bought her this really cute bear and a pregnancy book to help her along the way.

I've been going to tons of broadway shows and concerts (two NY Philharmonics, Wicked, Avenue Q, and I will be seeing Evil Dead: The Musical (I kid you not) next week and Madama Butterfly at the Met Opera House in two weeks), and basically been paying very little for all of it (yay! for student discounts). Other than that, I'm glad it's fall and the leaves will start to change colors soon! It's my favorite season (closely tied with winter), so I'll be trying to get out a lot and hang out in Central Park. When I'm not studying my brains out, that is.

Anyway, hope everyone is doing fine! As usual, I am trying to read my flist (and mostly succeed) but haven't had the time to comment or comment back to people who comment here. At least, that's been my last couple of weeks. However, I will try to do better and start commenting more! Really, I will! :)

ETA: I also wanted to quickly say that holy shit Studio 60 was SO GOOD this week! Much better than the second episode, I thought. I want to write more, but I really do need to go. If you don't watch this show, please do! It's really very good. :D

Games and TVs

In honor of last night's win, I will be going to see the Mets today. Of course, this game doesn't mean much of anything since they've already clinched the win, but whatever, it should be fun. Plus, I'm going with the grad student who's visiting from Germany for three months and he's never been to a baseball game, so it will be fun to see his reaction to it. He already asked me to teach him all the "songs" that they sing at baseball games, so I think he'll really get into it. :D

Other than that, I watched Studio 60 on Monday which, although all kinds of wonderful, was the pilot again so I don't really have anything to say except to reiterate that Amanda Peet really needs to STOP doing that half-smile thing (I think she did it about a bizillion times in one episode) and that the taxi scene is still one of the best ever.

I can't wait until Grey's Anatomy tomorrow! Hopefully it won't be so much "Grey" as Meredith really does get on my nerves. However, it is definitely my top show to watch for after I come back from my sister's birthday dinner (she's turning 24 so now we're finally back to being one year apart hehe).

And as a last parting note, Molecular Genetics is one of the crappiest classes I have ever had to take. I can't wait until it's over and it's really just begun. Blah. :P

New friends...

I went to my program retreat this weekend and it was absolutely wonderful! I'm so excited about the fact that I have gotten to know a lot more people and now don't feel as lost and friendless as I did a while ago. I am, however, completely exhausted and shall be going to bed very very soon to catch up on all the sleep missed during the wine-filled weekend.

Regardless, I am still going to fill out a meme stolen from wishclover.
Labor Day Weekend

So summer's finally over and I attempted to spend the last of my summer weekend at the beach but it decided to rain for 2 out of the 3 days of said weekend. Nevertheless, I did get to go river tubing, which was really really fun. I also wound up buying a bunch of fudge from a shop in the middle of Massachussets, so that was also great! ;D

In other news, I finally watched the pilot of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (YAY! for Netflix direct-to-DVD-pilot-episodes) and I'm very excited about the show starting. So far, I really like the acting and the lines are great ("You work in television" - classic!), although I'm sure Amanda Peet will get on my nerves eventually as I cannot stand her little half-smile acting thing (which she does in everything she's ever acted in). Still, it has been officially added to my shows to watch list of the Fall line up... and that list is becoming larger and larger each day. Since two of my shows (House and Standoff) are kicking off tomorrow, this will hopefully be the start of a good week. :)

New York life

I just had a "Hey I'm walking here!" moment earlier today when a cab cut me off tearing around the corner near Madison Square Park. Basically making me feel like more and more of a New Yorker. I've noticed that things that didn't bother me as much (they did bother me before, but not to the same extent) really piss me off now. Like people who take up the whole sidewalk walking at a snail's pace when there are people around who need to GET TO WORK! I don't mind if you feel like your life is slow and you're just trying to take it easy, and really, I should probably do that myself. But forcing me to do the same when I'm about 10 minutes late as is and can't get out of the subway because you're blocking the whole stairway is just not okay. At all. Just in case you didn't know that yet.

Other than my ever-growing New York stories (a drunk 40-year-old woman almost threw up on me in a subway the other day), I did have a good weekend eating at really great restaurants and watching good bad movies (read: Snakes on a Plane). I also bought tickets to go see Wicked on Wed. 9/27 (yay! for student tickets) and will probably try to see Avenue Q sometime soon as well. Now the only two items I didn't manage to get done this weekend include figuring out where to go for Labor Day weekend (Niagara Falls, the first option, has fallen through and Montreal shall be saved for a later date) and getting a NYSC gym membership set up. Both of which are items that I'll probably get to sometime tonight... I really do need to start working out again before I get too lazy and give up on it altogether. -.-;;

Brasil VS Japan

I know this game means nothing at all to Brazil since they're already moving into the second round, but OMG this game is SO exciting! That first header goal by Ronaldo was amazing!!! Especially since it was about 30 seconds before the end of half time. And then the second goal by Juninho and the third by Gilberto! This has got to be the most exciting Brazil game yet! The goals were just like BAM BAM BAM... one after another. I was jumping up and down... my neighbor (who's Japanese) is probably pissed at me since I can hear him yelling at the TV as well. ;D

Such a GOOD GAME! XD

Update on Adventures from Behind the Wall

So I decided to finally update about the haps behind my wall. My mother, as it turned out, was completely wrong.

The next day after my adventurous post, that squirrel (called that because that's what I believed it was at the time) was completely freaking out. Instead of the five minutes of running around and then stopping for another ten minutes, this time it was non stop running and squeaking. I waited until 5pm until I called the rental office again to complain and tell them that something needed to be done and done right now. After some running around on their part in which they tried their hardest to ignore my request, I finally got someone to come to my apartment to cut a hole in the wall and get the distressed animal out.

It turns out it's the same maintenance guy from the other day along with a buddy of his, both of whom have absolutely no clue what they're doing considering that they came armed with a saw and NOTHING else. So I point out to them the foolishness of trying to grab a squirrel with no gloves on and they finally conceided, letting me give them a pair of gloves I own, although I seriously don't think that would be very different since they weren't that thick and a squirrel would definitely be able to bite through them, but whatever, it was their choice.

So I stand well away from the closet and next to my couch. All of a sudden I hear "Oh man, oh... you killed it man. That's fur!"

I'm feeling bad enough that a squirrel is trapped in my wall and now they killed the thing. So one of them says "This squirrel was already dead, though."

At which point I point out to him that that's impossible since I just heard it about five minutes ago. As I'm explaining this to the one maintenance guy who's standing up, the other one, crouched near the hole, screams and jumps back, making me jump as well. And out of my closet wall comes a bird!

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I had a dead squirrel (dead at least a month) and a bird in my wall. We finally shoo it out of the house and it seems perfectly fine. The squirrel, on the other hand, had its eyes eaten out by the bird... which is why it lived so long.

As I told my stepdad, at least the squirrel served a purpose... you know circle of life and all.

Now there are two holes patched up with cardboard on my closet wall and the guy who was supposed to dry wall it the next day still hasn't shown up (it's been five days now). But I don't care since I'm leaving this place forever on Saturday! And I'm very happy about that, let me tell you!

Also, I snagged this meme from pyrodino:

You scored as atheism. However, the results were right on the nose, I must say, being that I am equally atheist and (sometimes) agnostic. Blah, I suck. :P

I'm such a wimp...

So yesterday, I decided to stay home to do some much needed grant writing. I thought it was perfect... I would sit at home and chug out maybe three pages of my grant and feel very accomplished about it. I woke up in the morning, did my regular morning stuff and sat down in front of my laptop to write. No more than two minutes later, I hear a definite scrambling noise from the vicinity of my coat closet, next to the front door. I stop, completely frozen, listening to my heart beat faster and faster, but I don't hear anything any more. So, just as I'm about to calm down, there is the scrambling again, this time accompanied by squeaks and a ridiculous amount of running back and forth. I immediately took my feet off the floor and onto the couch and stared, trying not to breathe at my entranceway. I was certain a huge rat was going to come running out at me and attack my feet first thing, giving me some horrible rat disease that would leave me sitting in this apartment dying or some other such stupid thing.

After about five minutes of the scrambling/squeaking noise, it all of a sudden stopped. I wait, hoping it will go away again, only to have it start within another ten minutes. At this point, I decide enough is enough. I call the rental office and tell them there's something big and scary in my closet and I really really need help. Luckily, a woman picked up the phone and she immediately empathized, saying I must be scared out of my mind (which I was), and said she'd get someone out here right away. To me, this was a huge relief since my rental office is notorious for not sending someone right away.

Fifteen minutes later there's a knock on my door and I quickly run past the closet to get to it. At this point, of course, the noise has completely stopped. I let the maintenance guy in, who might I add is the same guy who supposedly "fixed" my kitchen sink (it's still not completely right). He is carrying a pair of latex gloves and I am wondering what the hell he thinks that will do against a large rodent's bite, but whatever, I guess this was the way he felt prepared.

So he leaves the front door open and opens the coat closet and starts banging away at the things I have on my floor (Christmas decorations, which miraculously did not break with all of his kicking at them). I think he's expecting something to come running out, but nothing does. At this point, he looks at me like maybe I was too quick to call the leasing office. So I suggest we take everything out of there to see it it's perhaps hiding somewhere or if there's a hole in the closet. So we take everything out and not only is there no large scary rodent, there are also no holes anywhere.

Now, looking completely crazy, I apologize profusely and wonder if I didn't make the whole thing up as an excuse not to write my grant... an all in the subconscious sort of thing. He leaves, telling me it's not a problem and that perhaps it was in the wall and it was just passing by. Uh huh. Okay. I could see him picturing me in a straight jacket, in a room with padded walls, but whatever, at least the scary "imaginary" rodent was gone.

So the maintenance man leaves, I put everything back in the coat closet, and I sit back down in front of my laptop to write. No sooner had I started writing, but the scrambling started again, along with squeaks. I'm thinking to myself that this is one intelligent animal, who senses that there is a poor defenseless woman alone again and is now ready to attack. So I wait, and this scrambling goes on for hours. And I mean hours. Squeaking, scrambling, running back and forth, you name it.

Eventually, I get my courage up, put on a thick pair of boots, and go to open the coat closet, broom in hand, expecting something with beady little eyes to fly out at me. When nothing comes out right away, I bang around the closet sides as I take the stuff out of the closet and what do you know? It's completely empty. I'm staring at it, thinking I'm out of my mind, when I hear the scrambling again, making me jump and scream like a little girl.

Apparently, and obviously according to my mother once I called her to tell her about it, there is a squirrel trapped in my wall. It is probably dying in there and freaking out. I googled "squirrel in wall" (I kid you not) and found that this is very common for young squirrels who get into your attic and apparently are not very well balanced so they fall in the walls and cannot get out. I was able to rule out the rat thing since it's awake during the day, and rats are nocturnal. Plus, I figure a rat would just start gnawing at the wall in an attempt to come into my house, not scrambling about like a total idiot.

However, that did not stop me from having nightmares of rats infesting my house, nor did it stop the squirrel from waking me up at 6am this morning to make its presence known. The leasing agency is currently looking to find someone who will come here and cut a hole in the wall so they can get it out. Until then, I will have to deal with scrambling/squeaking noises coming from my coat closet.

At least now I know that the maintenance guy did not think I was crazy, though I'm sure he thought I was quite pathetic for not being able to open the coat closet by myself. And maybe I have an excuse for not getting any of my grant done yesterday. Just maybe. -.-;;

More meme fun!

So I'm bored here at work since I have to be here until something like midnight. My professor wants me to finish ALL wet lab work by Sunday which means that I have a heck of a lot of experiments to run until I am done. Basically, I've been working non-stop for the last week. And then after that I get to start the fun process of writing my proposal so I can receive my Masters degree. YAY... except not really.

So I've been browsing my LJ friends of friends pages and found :

Netflix Stats:
01. member since:
September 2003

02. currently out:
24: Season 1: Disc 1
Antwone Fischer
Everything is Illuminated
Children of a Lesser God
Thoroughly Modern Millie

03. top 3 movies in queue:
The Sisters
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
Syriana

04. last 3 movies returned:
Stargate SG-1: Season 2: Disc 5
Underworld Evolution
The New World

05. first 4 movies netflix suggests on 'recommendations' page:
Battlestar Galactica: Season 1
Au Revoir Les Enfants
Battlestar Galactica: The Miniseries
The World's Fastest Indian

06. # of movies rented last month: 15
07. average rating of movies: 3.8
08. # of movies in queue: 390
09. # of netflix friends: 1
10. # of movies rated: 1635

Geez I'm bored. -.-;;

World Cup is on!

The World Cup begins!!! Let all of us crazed soccer fans rejoice. GO BRASIL! :D

Snagged this from ereki:

LJ Interests meme results

biochemistry:
What can I say? Getting a Ph.D. in biochemistry definitely makes me interested in it. At least one would hope so. ;)

colin firth:
Who doesn't like Colin Firth? Especially after watching the A&E version of Pride and Prejudice?

fantasy:
I've been reading fantasy since I was a little kid and as such have always been really interested in it. I don't read it as much now as I used to, but it still is one of my favorite genres to sit down and read.

johnny depp:
I've loved Johnny Depp since forever and a day ago. Anyone who can still make a grungy Captain Jack look sexy is definitely worth something in my book. Not to mention that he is a great actor and does really good movies with Tim Burton, who I also thoroughly enjoy! ;D

love actually:
Really good movie. I can watch this over and over again... It has such good actors in it (see interest 2 above) and it makes me laugh and cry. Yeah, I'm a sap, so what? :P

mozart:
My mom used to make me listen to Mozart when I was doing my homework every night ever since I was seven or so. I'm not sure if it helped me at all, but I have been a fan of listening to music when I study ever since so I do owe that to Mozart's music.

pulp fiction:
Pulp fiction is one of the best cult movies ever made, in my humble opinion. Not to mention that it was done by one of my favorite directors, Quentin Tarantino. Plus, it's a great movie to quote!

six feet under:
One of my favorite HBO shows, Six Feet Under has an excellent cast and a great story line. Who wouldn't want to see a series about a family living in a funeral home? The humor is great, as is the drama, and I really like the way the dead characters will come to life in the character's minds.

tamora pierce:
She is an author I have read since I was about twelve years old. The Lioness Rampant series I think I have read about twenty times since I first picked it up. Although I don't like some of her newer stuff, Tamora Pierce will always represent a big part of my teen years.

tom jobim:
Being Brazilian, it is impossible to leave Tom Jobim out of my list. Plus, he was a wonderful wonderful musician whose work I greatly admire. If you like jazz, I'm sure you've heard of him. Even if you don't like jazz, I'm sure you've heard his music but just didn't now it was him. His music is definitely worth checking out! :D

Enter your LJ user name, and 10 interests will be selected from your interest list.

Phoenix rules...

Just got back from seeing X-Men 3. Without giving anything away, I really liked the movie even though it deviated a lot from the comic books... not like they never had before, though, so I guess it's all right.

Phoenix is one of the best mutants in the movie, of course, though I really did like Angel a lot. Even though he was barely in the movie, but whatever.

I need to go watch it again but I really didn't think that there were too many mutants, as some of the reviews are saying. Seriously, who cares if you know the name of every single mutant? To me, as long as I can keep the plot straight and know from their faces who is evil and who isn't, I really couldn't care less what a mutant is called...

Also, I was so happy that Vinnie Jones is in it (as Juggernaut) since I absolutely loved him in Snatch. Plus, he really looked like Juggernaut. :P

Now the rest of the weekend will be crazy since I have to buy a bunch of new things for the apartment we got in New York! I love house shopping, especially when my boyfriend left me cash to spend! XD Plus, it's memorial day weekend so I can hit all the sales! Wish me luck!

Lost Season Finale

Okay, so this finale answered a bunch of questions but left so many WTFs in my mind that I'm not sure whether or not to be satisfied with this ending.

First my Brazilian blood prompts me to mention that I thought the Brazilian guys at the end spoke Portuguese horribly. Couldn't they have gotten some Brazilian actors for the part? I mean, sheesh.

As far as the plot goes, however, I am still frustrated about not knowing who the hell the Others are, but I didn't expect them to mention it anyway.

And was it just me or did Charlie turn into a complete asshole? Not that he hasn't been one before, but I think it was worse this time.

Also, what is up with Libby/Elizabeth turning up in everyone's story? I bet she has something to do with what's going on on the island. Henry being a main guy, however, was way too obvious. He was too cunning to be just some guy.

Oh and if Locke really is dead, I will be so pissed off. He is definitely one of my favorite characters. And Eko... although I haven't liked him as much lately, he's still a cool character to have around.

edit: And what the hell was up with that four-toed statue? WEIRD!

Ack! I can't wait until next season, although I do think they need to end it after maximum two more seasons... the show has a lot of downtime, I think, between each real plot element. Season two pretty much sucked all throughout the middle before it got good again, so I hope that season three won't lag as much.
