I've decided to close this livejournal... I never update it anymore and I've pretty much moved on from it. I am still reading my friends' posts so please don't de-friend me so I can keep up with all of you! However, I do have a new blog, in case anyone is interested. I'm not sure any of you will be as it's not really about what I used to write here in my LJ account, but I do update with my life stuff now and then. If you want to keep up with me, just bookmark my new blog... I update it pretty frequently:
Photo.Knit.Dog
I feel a little sad closing this LJ as it really is like closing a part of my life, but it's been dead for so long, it's hard for me to miss it so much. I'll make sure to check back here on your LJ accounts so I can keep up, I promise! I'm closing this LJ but definitely not the friendships I made here!
Love,
Lina (B-chan)

Just a meme - a real post to follow later today. ;)

mirai_noah. And you all know I have no life, so it all makes sense. Also, I am very ashamed by some of these movies I've seen. Joe Dirt anyone? Sheesh I am a loser.
SUPPOSEDLY if you've seen over 85 movies, you have no life. Mark the ones you've seen. There are 239 movies on this list. COPY and paste this into your own livejournal entry and pass it on down the line. Then make sure to come back here and comment and tell me what your numbers are! Then, put x's next to the movies you've seen, add them up, change the header adding your number, and click post at the bottom. Have fun!

Mostly because I've been feeling sick all day. Hopefully this will go away tomorrow, but since it will be VERY VERY cold, I'm not sure if that will actually happen since I need to walk around outside to get to class early in the morning. blah.
However, Heroes was awesome today even if I feel like shooting myself over the fact that there will be no new episodes until April 23rd! WTF?
( Is it possible to feel sorry for HRG? )
Regardless, the episode was great all around, though I can't wait to see what happens next.
I haven't seen The Black Donnellys yet, but I'll watch it sometime tomorrow. I am getting up to date with Lost, though, and am only one episode behind now. So far so good, though I guess we'll see where things go with the whole Jack/Juliet thing.
Anyway, I hope everyone on my f-list is doing well! I've been busy the last week or so and probably will be for a while longer. Hopefully things will settle down sooner rather than later.

So my paper was turned in earlier today. YAY for that! Now I have two weeks of waiting before I know if I have to rewrite it or just go straight to the oral... blah. I'll try not to think of that until then.
On other more pleasant news, Heroes tonight was awesome! ( HRG just became a MUCH better character )
I absolutely cannot wait till next week! :D
Also, I did get a chance to watch The Black Donnellys and I wasn't too impressed. I will keep watching to see where it goes, but it seemed to me like it tried too hard to be a Goodfellas/The Departed/Godfather mix and somehow fell short by a long shot. I hope it gets better as I really like the idea behind it. ( Cut for a minor spoiler. )
Regardless, I'll see it for the next couple of weeks until/if I get disillusioned with it, as I did with Studio 60 (one of the only shows I've ever seen where the first episode was far and away the best one).
...
At least Heroes is still awesome! XD

Ummm... okay. What? Audrey Hanson? Whatever. So I took it again... and got Mr. Bennet! Shit, I guess I'm doomed to get stupid characters I don't care about. :P Although, at least Mr. Bennet has some kind of motive for acting the way he does... even if I don't agree with most of his decisions. I'm sure part of the reason I got Mr. Bennet is because I'm a scientist. So. Yeah.

So last night was okay as far as Grey's was concerned for me. ( Going for the wow factor there, weren't they? )
So after watching Grey's it was late but my sister didn't want to go to bed with such a sad episode in mind so we watched Ugly Betty right afterwards. haha! ( What a bad night to do that! )
I don't think UB is on next week, though, because they didn't show a preview... :( I hope it will come back soon if that's the case. Anyway, I must get back to slaving away at my paper. My life is so grand. *le sigh*

sometimescrazy,

mirai_noah! I hope you will all enjoy my random ramblings and the such. ;)
So we're having that snow-not-snow-snow-not-snow type of weather (what the weather freaks call wintry mix) for the first time the whole winter. Since it's been so warm here lately, it's kind of freaky to see some snow flakes falling (along with rain, but heh, what can you do?).
Other than the cold, it's been a good day since I found out that I did well on my Genetics class! YAY! Now I only have one other class and I will be finally done with it all! XD
Now I'm just waiting for Ugly Betty and Grey's Anatomy to come on tonight. I love Thursdays! :D
ETA: I absolutely LOVED Ugly Betty tonight... I'll post my thoughts on this episode as well as on Grey's sometime tomorrow. Plus, is it just me or did they really make Rebecca Romjin look like a man turned into a woman?

So I know I sort of slacked on the Movies of 2006 thing... I did watch a bunch of movies, though, and I did put them all in the entry, but I definitely didn't review all of them. So one of my New Year resolutions (other than taking the stairs up to my work and NOT taking the elevator whenever possible) will be to actually post reviews of all movies seen in 2007. Let us all hope this will work out for me this time around! :D The movies of 2006 post is below this one, and though I didn't see as many movies as I would wish, I blame it all on grad school (as per usual ;D).

How completely adorable was Hugh Laurie (LOVE LOVE LOVE) when accepting his award? I'm SO happy for House since he totally totally deserved it... and the show deserves the recognition too, of course. :D
Ugly Betty just won best TV COMEDY!!!!!!! WOOHOO! XD I think I saw America Ferrera crying... she's so sweet.

This episode was definitely much better than the first, in my Spoiler-full ( humble opinion )
In short, this episode was much better than the first as I think all the characters are slowly coming back into themselves again (maybe I just mean Logan and Veronica), and I didn't think it was as dumbed down as the first one.

Apparently I'm very special... although there are plenty of people with my name in Brazil... so I'm not that special. ;)
Of course, I'm almost certain this works by how many people have entered their own names into the website because some of the results for my friends have been a little weird, so I don't trust it entirely.
As a parting line, I saw Rod Stewart last night (having dinner two tables away from us), which made my sister very excited (she's been waiting to spot a celebrity since moving here) and me wondering how the hell is it that he looks like he's still 40? I was really impressed... and it made me decide that he'll never get rid of that signature 80's/early 90's hair, because it's still there. Sad, but true.

So yeah... Veronica Mars... what can I say except a spoiler full ( FUCK YEAH! )
So I can't wait until next week, though next week I think I'll pause it for 20 minutes or so so I can fast-forward through the commercials (YAY for DVR!). I'm very impatient that way. ;)
I also got a friend of mine to just turn on the TV and leave it on VM (even though she was busy studying for her exam) to help add one more to the ratings. Yes, I cheated... but if it means saving my favorite show, I will be as underhanded as possible.
I've been so incredibly busy the last couple of weeks I don't even know where to start, so I'll just leave out all the details. To make a long story short, I am incredibly bogged down with research and stupid genetics (*kicks*) and I just found out that one of my closest friends is now pregnant... in a completely unplanned way. But she's happy so I'm being happy and supportive. I bought her this really cute bear and a pregnancy book to help her along the way.
I've been going to tons of broadway shows and concerts (two NY Philharmonics, Wicked, Avenue Q, and I will be seeing Evil Dead: The Musical (I kid you not) next week and Madama Butterfly at the Met Opera House in two weeks), and basically been paying very little for all of it (yay! for student discounts). Other than that, I'm glad it's fall and the leaves will start to change colors soon! It's my favorite season (closely tied with winter), so I'll be trying to get out a lot and hang out in Central Park. When I'm not studying my brains out, that is.
Anyway, hope everyone is doing fine! As usual, I am trying to read my flist (and mostly succeed) but haven't had the time to comment or comment back to people who comment here. At least, that's been my last couple of weeks. However, I will try to do better and start commenting more! Really, I will! :)
ETA: I also wanted to quickly say that holy shit Studio 60 was SO GOOD this week! Much better than the second episode, I thought. I want to write more, but I really do need to go. If you don't watch this show, please do! It's really very good. :D

In honor of last night's win, I will be going to see the Mets today. Of course, this game doesn't mean much of anything since they've already clinched the win, but whatever, it should be fun. Plus, I'm going with the grad student who's visiting from Germany for three months and he's never been to a baseball game, so it will be fun to see his reaction to it. He already asked me to teach him all the "songs" that they sing at baseball games, so I think he'll really get into it. :D
Other than that, I watched Studio 60 on Monday which, although all kinds of wonderful, was the pilot again so I don't really have anything to say except to reiterate that Amanda Peet really needs to STOP doing that half-smile thing (I think she did it about a bizillion times in one episode) and that the taxi scene is still one of the best ever.
I can't wait until Grey's Anatomy tomorrow! Hopefully it won't be so much "Grey" as Meredith really does get on my nerves. However, it is definitely my top show to watch for after I come back from my sister's birthday dinner (she's turning 24 so now we're finally back to being one year apart hehe).
And as a last parting note, Molecular Genetics is one of the crappiest classes I have ever had to take. I can't wait until it's over and it's really just begun. Blah. :P

I went to my program retreat this weekend and it was absolutely wonderful! I'm so excited about the fact that I have gotten to know a lot more people and now don't feel as lost and friendless as I did a while ago. I am, however, completely exhausted and shall be going to bed very very soon to catch up on all the sleep missed during the wine-filled weekend.
Regardless, I am still going to fill out a meme stolen from
wishclover. Because I'm just ( cool like that )
Apparently I have a 70% chance of buying a movie I've seen, as according to this list anyway. That's pretty sad, isn't it?

So summer's finally over and I attempted to spend the last of my summer weekend at the beach but it decided to rain for 2 out of the 3 days of said weekend. Nevertheless, I did get to go river tubing, which was really really fun. I also wound up buying a bunch of fudge from a shop in the middle of Massachussets, so that was also great! ;D
In other news, I finally watched the pilot of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (YAY! for Netflix direct-to-DVD-pilot-episodes) and I'm very excited about the show starting. So far, I really like the acting and the lines are great ("You work in television" - classic!), although I'm sure Amanda Peet will get on my nerves eventually as I cannot stand her little half-smile acting thing (which she does in everything she's ever acted in). Still, it has been officially added to my shows to watch list of the Fall line up... and that list is becoming larger and larger each day. Since two of my shows (House and Standoff) are kicking off tomorrow, this will hopefully be the start of a good week. :)

I just had a "Hey I'm walking here!" moment earlier today when a cab cut me off tearing around the corner near Madison Square Park. Basically making me feel like more and more of a New Yorker. I've noticed that things that didn't bother me as much (they did bother me before, but not to the same extent) really piss me off now. Like people who take up the whole sidewalk walking at a snail's pace when there are people around who need to GET TO WORK! I don't mind if you feel like your life is slow and you're just trying to take it easy, and really, I should probably do that myself. But forcing me to do the same when I'm about 10 minutes late as is and can't get out of the subway because you're blocking the whole stairway is just not okay. At all. Just in case you didn't know that yet.
Other than my ever-growing New York stories (a drunk 40-year-old woman almost threw up on me in a subway the other day), I did have a good weekend eating at really great restaurants and watching good bad movies (read: Snakes on a Plane). I also bought tickets to go see Wicked on Wed. 9/27 (yay! for student tickets) and will probably try to see Avenue Q sometime soon as well. Now the only two items I didn't manage to get done this weekend include figuring out where to go for Labor Day weekend (Niagara Falls, the first option, has fallen through and Montreal shall be saved for a later date) and getting a NYSC gym membership set up. Both of which are items that I'll probably get to sometime tonight... I really do need to start working out again before I get too lazy and give up on it altogether. -.-;;

I know this game means nothing at all to Brazil since they're already moving into the second round, but OMG this game is SO exciting! That first header goal by Ronaldo was amazing!!! Especially since it was about 30 seconds before the end of half time. And then the second goal by Juninho and the third by Gilberto! This has got to be the most exciting Brazil game yet! The goals were just like BAM BAM BAM... one after another. I was jumping up and down... my neighbor (who's Japanese) is probably pissed at me since I can hear him yelling at the TV as well. ;D
Such a GOOD GAME! XD

So I decided to finally update about the haps behind my wall. My mother, as it turned out, was completely wrong.
The next day after my adventurous post, that squirrel (called that because that's what I believed it was at the time) was completely freaking out. Instead of the five minutes of running around and then stopping for another ten minutes, this time it was non stop running and squeaking. I waited until 5pm until I called the rental office again to complain and tell them that something needed to be done and done right now. After some running around on their part in which they tried their hardest to ignore my request, I finally got someone to come to my apartment to cut a hole in the wall and get the distressed animal out.
It turns out it's the same maintenance guy from the other day along with a buddy of his, both of whom have absolutely no clue what they're doing considering that they came armed with a saw and NOTHING else. So I point out to them the foolishness of trying to grab a squirrel with no gloves on and they finally conceided, letting me give them a pair of gloves I own, although I seriously don't think that would be very different since they weren't that thick and a squirrel would definitely be able to bite through them, but whatever, it was their choice.
So I stand well away from the closet and next to my couch. All of a sudden I hear "Oh man, oh... you killed it man. That's fur!"
I'm feeling bad enough that a squirrel is trapped in my wall and now they killed the thing. So one of them says "This squirrel was already dead, though."
At which point I point out to him that that's impossible since I just heard it about five minutes ago. As I'm explaining this to the one maintenance guy who's standing up, the other one, crouched near the hole, screams and jumps back, making me jump as well. And out of my closet wall comes a bird!
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I had a dead squirrel (dead at least a month) and a bird in my wall. We finally shoo it out of the house and it seems perfectly fine. The squirrel, on the other hand, had its eyes eaten out by the bird... which is why it lived so long.
As I told my stepdad, at least the squirrel served a purpose... you know circle of life and all.
Now there are two holes patched up with cardboard on my closet wall and the guy who was supposed to dry wall it the next day still hasn't shown up (it's been five days now). But I don't care since I'm leaving this place forever on Saturday! And I'm very happy about that, let me tell you!
Also, I snagged this meme from
pyrodino:
I suppose it's fitting that I would be a Satanist before I would be a Christian... but I'm not too sure about that. However, the results were right on the nose, I must say, being that I am equally atheist and (sometimes) agnostic. Blah, I suck. :P
